Mentoring programs are in place to support, guide and educate Aboriginal men and youth. This assists in enhancing their self esteem, confidence and resilience by affirming their cultural identity and values. It can also improve their health and well-being by addressing the underlying issues that may have contributed to their involvement in the criminal justice system, such as trauma, substance abuse, mental illness and family breakdown.
Using our mentoring program and providing close support while involving guest speakers strengthens their relationships with families, elders and communities by fostering a sense of belonging, responsibility and respect.
